September–December: New content + early revision
Schools finish the remaining topics (typically 12–21) while beginning to revisit Year 10 content. Your child should be consolidating Year 10 topics alongside new learning: not leaving all revision until January.
January–March: Mock exams and targeted revision
Most schools run mock exams in January or February. Mock results are the most useful diagnostic tool you will get. Analyse the mock paper with your child: which topics lost the most marks? Which error types recurred? Use this to prioritise revision.
April–May: Final revision and exam prep
All content should be covered by now. Focus entirely on past papers, mark schemes, and correcting weak areas. Aim for 2–3 full past papers per week, timed, with honest marking. The quality of correction matters more than the quantity of papers done.
May/June: Exam period
Multiple papers over 1–3 weeks. Ensure your child knows the exact dates and paper formats. Night-before revision should be light: review notes, not learn new material. Sleep is essential for exam performance.
