Lacteal

Definition
A small lymph vessel found in the centre of each villus in the small intestine. Lacteals absorb fatty acids and glycerol (the products of fat digestion), which are then transported in the lymphatic system before entering the blood.
What to include in an exam answer
Fatty acids and glycerol are absorbed into the lacteal, not into the blood capillaries. This is a common distinction tested in absorption questions.
