Definition
The pale yellow liquid component of blood in which blood cells are suspended. Plasma transports dissolved substances including glucose, amino acids, urea, carbon dioxide, hormones, antibodies and heat energy around the body.
What to include in an exam answer
Know the list of substances transported in plasma. A common question asks you to name substances carried by plasma. Include: glucose, amino acids, urea, hormones, antibodies, carbon dioxide (dissolved), and heat.
