Habitat

Definition
The specific place or environment in which an organism lives, providing the conditions and resources it needs to survive. Examples include a pond, a woodland floor or a coral reef.
What to include in an exam answer
Habitat is WHERE an organism lives. Niche is its ROLE in the habitat. Do not confuse the two. In ecology questions, be specific about the habitat (e.g. 'under rotting logs in a deciduous woodland' rather than just 'woodland').
