Ovary

Definition
The female reproductive organ that produces egg cells (ova) and secretes the hormones oestrogen and progesterone. In plants, the ovary is the part of the flower that contains ovules, which develop into seeds after fertilisation, while the ovary wall becomes the fruit.
What to include in an exam answer
In human biology, know that ovaries produce oestrogen (triggers puberty changes, controls the menstrual cycle) and progesterone (maintains the uterus lining). In plant biology, the ovary develops into the fruit.
