Ribosome

Definition
A tiny organelle found in the cytoplasm where protein synthesis occurs. Ribosomes read the instructions from mRNA and assemble amino acids into polypeptide chains.
What to include in an exam answer
Ribosomes are the site of protein synthesis, not 'protein production'. They are found in all living cells, both prokaryotic and eukaryotic.
